Real Advice on Love and Marriage

A friend recently posted the following video on FB and it made me smile.  It is a couple's REAL advice on love and making a marriage work.

Couple-together-for-72-years-give-grandson-five-tips-to-surviving-marriage

Before getting married almost 15 years ago, we (or at least I) had visions of a life filled with daily romantic gestures, long walks hand-in-hand, intimate conversations about life, family and our future togehter.  It didn't take long for reality set in, with two kids added to the mix, to make us realize that being in love and making a marriage work is just that - a whole lot of hard work.

It's working hard to pay the mortgage and bills, it's getting up early to get the kids ready for school, make lunches, walk the dog and sleeping late so you could get some chores in and prepare for another day.  There is the fun as well - this cannot be forgotten - but there is work and compromise that need to be made in order to fit this in.

Just like this couple who have been together for 72 years - we believe that to make a marriage is being (sometimes painfully) honest, accepting each other just as you are, being able to laugh, forgive, learn from mistakes and love each other wholeheartedly.

Thank you Selma & Kenny for giving the world REAL advice.

Sincerely,

Sherry (a "REAL" married woman)
